DENS Admission Criteria
A student must fill out the Application for Designated Emphasis Form, obtain the signature of the student's Graduate Group Program Advisor, and submit it to the Chair of DENS for approval.
Qualifying Exam and Dissertation Requirement
A student's Qualifying Exam Committee and Dissertation Committee must each include at least one member of DENS. The Chair of DENS and the student's PhD Program Graduate Advisor must co-sign the Qualifying Exam Committee form, which is submitted to the Dean of Graduate Studies for approval. The srudent's dissertation topic must be relevant to DENS.
